This 18-karat gold toilet was part of Maurizio Cattelan’s “America” project at the Guggenheim Museum. The artist installed the toilet in a private restroom for the use of the public.
Is it an admonishment of the 1%?
Or a nod to the American Dream?

Sadly the Gold Toilet was taken off display in September 2017.
It was recently in the news again according to CNN at https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/25/politics/guggenheim-white-house-van-gogh-toilet/index.html. Apparently, President Trump’ staff asked the Guggenheim to borrow Vincent Van Gogh’s 1888 painting “Landscape with Snow”.
Instead the Guggenheim countered with the offer of the fully-functional, gold toilet for use in their residence.
